James Parker British

James Parker The son of a farmer, James grew up in Galloway, South West Scotland. Along with his four siblings, his formative years were spent exploring the outdoors: playing in the fields, in the woodlands, exploring incredible caves and playing on beaches and in rock pools. James began working with stone at just four years old, helping his father repair gaps in the drystone walls around the family farm. This sparked a passion which would eventually become his career. In 2007 James created his first stacked slate sculpture, employing and building upon the fundamentals and skills gained as a young boy. Only a year later he held his first exhibition in Edinburgh. Since then he has exhibited many times, including at the world renowned RHS Chelsea Flower Show where he has received many awards. James’ portfolio has grown over the years to include glass, stainless steel and bronze. He continues to take his inspiration from the natural world which has always been a source of fascination.

As well as installing many sculptures in Scotland and around the UK and Ireland, James’ work has gained international interest and adorns the homes and gardens of some of the world’s finest properties, from the Swiss Alps to the Blue Mountains and the Middle East. Across the USA, and from Australia to beach front villas of the Algarve and Caribbean, to the colder climes of Scandinavia.
